Default 500 for brake pad replacement?? near DC

I've got an '03 2.7T which I've just learned needs brake pad replacement all around. THe dealer is quoting 500+. I've called another shop who also quotes about 525.. ??? This seems rather unreasonable to me, but I'm relatively new to the Audi maintenance world.. Anyone have advice?

Also if anyone knows any good indy shops in the northern virginia/dc/md area, I'd love to hear about them.

thanks!

Audi of Alexandria??

If I were you, I will buy the ceramic brake pads from Tirerack.com, because it will solve your another problem, that is the brake dust, as it is light grey in color and non-corrosive with ceramic brake pads, and you can drive without cleaning your wheels every week.

Try the workshop on Lee highway, I don't remember the name but it is on the other side of Denny's and a little before Darcars Chrysler. The mechanic's name is Dean, and he seemed to be pretty knowledgeable about Audis and BMWs. In fact, I saw couple of Audis there on the ramp.

Pads run about $75 to $100 an axle retail, but can be purchased for about $50 to $75.Rotors are$35 to $60 each and rebuilt calipers (loaded) are around $110 each.

If the shop is replacing pads only for $500 they are pocketing $300 for a few hours work.

If they are doing pads and rotors $500 is a little high but not out of the ball park.

Four loaded rebuilt calipers with 4new rotorswould run $680 for parts. If you insisted on ceramic padsit would add another$180 to the cost or close to $860 -
