95 audi muffler help

i have a 1995 audi a6 quattro 2.8 and noticed a rattle sound near muffler and inspected and found the mount rusted through so i took it over to midas and they told me you cant just replace the mounts and that i need a whole new muffler to get the mounts so my question is that true? the total job cost would be $583.04 any help or suggestions who be greatly appreciated. 85,000 miles and car would also need's new tires and new rotors as they are rusted from sitting also been told a new serp belt as its cracking. is this wort it to do all this as they car is used 2 days a week just to drop off and pick up my daughter from pre school.the body and interior are in excellent condition and every one always comments on it. i have had it 2 years and there was only one owner prior to me getting it and was serviced properly according to the records and carfax report. any help or thoughts would be great and thanks in advance.

Go somewhere beside Midas, yes they're convenient, they are also among the most expensive and in many some cases utilize inferior quality exhaust components with a HUGE mark-up. I know this because of some inside knowledge. Go to an independent experienced with exhaust and bring your own parts. This is what I did with my wife's 95 A6 and saved over $200.00.

small indy, mom and pop style muffler shop. look for a place that will do custom work. it doesn't take much to weld up something suitable and you have better chance of specifying exactly what muffler, pipe combination you want. also, +1 for the option of bringing your own parts
