Default 98 A6 Quattro - help locating sensors

Does anyone have picture of where the camshaft position sensors are. I have looked for them and can't find them. I am getting a P1392, it comes and goes and I want to change the sensor so my car will be more reliable. it is the sensor on the driver's side.

I have found other posts saying changing the sensor is not difficult. The dealership wanted $400 for the job.

Did you recently replace the timing belt?

The timing belt was changed a while ago. This code comes and goes. When there is no code the car has a lot more power.
Is the camshaft Sensor the same as the Hall sensor. I found the sensor on the car but unsure if I need to order a camshaft sensor or hall sensor? Some online stores use the 2 interchangeably.

The reason that I am asking is because, the code usually comes after a bad timing belt job. If the code started to show up right after the timing belt job, then I would suspect a bad belt job.

Anyways, the bank 2 cam shaft position sensor is located behind the driver side head. Remove the coolant reservoir, remove the beauty cover and you should see wire going into a shiny metal cap looking object behind the exhaust cam. It is held with 2 bolts. It can be a bit of pain in the **** to remove because of the clearance being a little tight. You can squeeze it out by wiggling around the notch in the pickup. you will know what I am takling about once you get to it.

There are several vacuum lines in the way, can I remove them or is this a bad idea? I don't want to break or damage anything.
Also other people have mentioned cleaning it, what do you clean it with?

Audi vacuum lines get brittle after awhile. Just run to a local parts shop and pickup about 5 feet of vacuum line. It will cost you about $2. Just remove the lines and replace them.

As for cleaning it, you can use electrical cleaner. MAF cleaner will work as well. Worth a shot.

The check engine light turned off by itself a day ago. Does this mean the sensor is working now and there was just a loose wire, or is it something else?
