99 A6 Dash Problems
The lights on my dash are faded and sometimes go out completely when it is hot outside > 80F. I lose all gauges except for speed and tach??? Also the led lights for the Drive, reverse, 1 gear, etc will go out completely. Does anyone know what might be causing this?? Is this an easy fix or do I have to take the entire dash apart???

Hmmm, I think you have too many problems for it to be a coincidence (but when isn't that the case?!). It might just be a connector on the back that is causing the problem, maybe pulling it out and putting it back together will help.
And just to make sure we're on the same page, you DON'T have the LCD, correct? So, it DOESN'T look like this (not counting the cover that's not there, of course):
edit: If you want to take it out, it's actually pretty easy, just take out those two screws (in the picture above) and you can pop it out from the back (through the fuse-box panel - might need a tiny hand or some tool to get to it, i forget):

Yes you should. Now you should understand that the LCD screens in probably over 90% of our cars go bad, you can tell even mine is going bad - and it's a lot worse when the temperature changes. You can't really fix it without putting down a decent amount of money, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Now, you said your gauges stop working, though? That's a whole different ball game. So the battery, coolant, and oil temperature just stop working, or was the problem just with the LCD? Again, hopefully it's just a loose connector on the back.
When you get back there, two of the plugs have a little lever holding them down (there are three connectors total):
