My valve body was reamed and a new pressure valve installed. I should have it back on Wednesday or Thursday at which point I'll update the results. One thing that the tech at FixEuro advised is to check while the valve body is out is to inspect the E-clutch supply line. Apparently the top side of the valve body can come in contact with the supply tube and rub through it, causing a small leak. I looked at mine and it seemed ok, but they said that it was a common occurance. More details to follow.

Thanks for the update. Many of us are watching your posts with great excitement. In fact, I wet myself earlier,...but it was mostly unrelated to your post.

Still waiting for my valve body to return, I'm hoping it gets to my house today. It was sent out to me on the 6th, 6-10 business days. If it's here tonight I'll do a quick write up as soon as I know something.

Default waiting patiently

Those of us who are following your posts are very excited! Thanks for posting. I'm in the process of making an air tester (valve body) for the 5hp24. I finished the template last night and will be able to provide CAD and VB drawings when the designe is perfected. With this tool, we will be able to air test a fully assembled unit ( minus valve body) to determine if there are seal failures, before you install. Or as a diagnostic tool, for on-vehicle trouble shooting.

I've wondered how to make a test plate as I think that would be a great tool as well. I received the invoice and a couple of sheets from ATSG yesterday in the mail, but no valve body yet.

Hoping to get the valve body back tonight.

Well, I received my valve body back last night and installed it. I'm sorry to report that my issues are still there. I wouldn't discourage anyone from using Fixeuro's services I guess this just wasn't the cure to my issues. I did find a VW toureg forum where this issue is discussed in great detail. I found it was reported that most times the valve body was replaced by the dealer to cure the problems.

I did contact Freddie's Transmission and their tech did offer to call me later and discuss my problems further and possibly firnd the issue. I will gladly spend another $50 for a service call if that gets me to a resolution.

JR,

What all did ATSG do to the valve body?
did they do a rebuild?
what was cost of work?

I feel my problem is a valve body more and more every day. If someone drove my car they would think the TC is screwed up, but the gears engage differently every time. The quicker I get into the gas the quicker the gear will engage, but there is noticeable slipping. Also when I am cruising (flat road with no load on car) in 4th at 40 MPH the tach will sometimes bounce between 1800-2000 RPM - like the trans is grabbing the gear and clutching out. As soon as I give the car a little gas I can feel gear engage instantly.
The slipping and other weird things always get worse in colder weather too, or if trans is cold.

- This is why I think its a valve body pressure problem or just valve body problem..

P.S.
Problem is I am couple hours south of Chicago and dont have any experienced people around that know what they are talking about. A good Local VW/VAG shop told me if they diagnose the trans as propblem they would just replace because no one works on these trans

The car is completely drivable. - I have been driving it like this for a year now and nothing has changed. (did fluid change 6 months ago)

We all had hopes. Sorry it didn't work for you.
I've been really busy at work, so I have not been able to build my test plate. They keep expecting me to do stuff for the company while I'm here, it's pretty annoying really. Since today is Friday, my boss will have very low expectations for my productivity and I might get a good start on the plate.

I'm hoping to get a call back from Freddie's today at which point I will report what the outcome was. The more I dig into this problem, the more I'm finding that to correct all these issues at once people replace the entire valve body. My thought is that's fine if you have $1200 laying around, but logically it can't be the entire valve body that fails, it must be either a single or several parts within it.

More and more information is leading to this being an electrical problem, specifically the control solenoids in the valve body. These 8 sylenoids and pressure regulators ultimately trigger everything from pressure throughout the clutches to shift points to the TC lockup function.

Next i will be exploring one or more of these 8 components either failing or beginning to fail.

Check out this forum thread. The symptoms described by these VW Toureg owners are exactly what my car is doing.
http://www.clubtouareg.com/forums/f6...-12203-11.html

Just to clarify, the VW Toureg has an AISIN transmission, not a ZF...but i do find it very interesting that the symptoms are exactly the same.

That's it, now i'm really pissed off with this car. This is the first time in my life a car has been beating me for so long, but not for much longer.

Does the A6 have a snub mount on the front of the engine like the A4 has? If so thats where I would take a look to see if its worn.

Good Luck...
