A6 4.2 fenders and door fenders on a 2.7t

A6 4.2 fenders and door fenders on a 2.7t. Will it work, does any one know where I can get them and what the name of that part is. Thanks for the help.

Not sure what you mean by "door fenders" but if you mean the blades (trim at the bottom of each door) you can put them onto a 2.7T. Check www.worldimpex.com or www.1stvwparts.com for pricing. Do a search to get the part numbers -- it's been discussed before.

As far as wheel fenders, forget about it. It would be prohibitively expensive. Look at the two side by side and you'll see that the difference is not that great anyway. One of the most overblown discussions out there IMO. Yes, they are nicer on the 4.2, but certainly not enough to merit the cost of retrofitting in my opinion. If you want them that badly, you'd be better off selling your 2.7T and finding a 4.2.

Of course 2.7t owners always think its not that great of a difference. The flairs are definitely noticeable and only available on the 4.2 widebody. There is over 9/16+ difference in the flair which accomodates a wider wheel setup and gives the 4.2 a wider flater meaner stance look that no stock 2.7 can achieve. If you can find a way to do it, let everybody know...It makes a huge differenc ein aesthetics.

This isn't a case of sour grapes here. If I could chose, I'd have the 4.2 flares, but no way in the world I'd spend several hundred (thousand?) dollars to retrofit for this difference. 1/2 an inch is just not that great. Here are two pics comparing a 2.7T (cashmere grey) and a 4.2 (silver). You tell me if the difference is "huge"...

Hey Thanks for the pick. I have a friend that runs a body shop so I get everything for cost so I could probably have it done for $600 but it means I'm without a car for a month or so. If I get it done I will post it. Currently I'm working on the engine all I have left is Exhaust for a Stage three APR tune. Oh and can anyone recommend some drilled rear rotors, I picked some up and there the wrong size.

Just remember, if you are looking at installing 4.2 fenders, they will NOT work unless you chagne the bumper as well. FYI, if you ahve a 2001 or earlier A6, the 4.2 fenders and bumper will NOT work with your hood and headlights. Lots of things taht would need changing for the cosmetic mods.

I would stick to the S6/4.2 door blades. You'd be surpised how much THAT alone widens the look of the car.

And, for you viewing pleasure, another comparison pic of a (nicely modded) 2.7T vs. a 4.2...

Check out ABD racing, they did it on a 2.7T:

Won't be a walk in the park though.
