I recently purchased a 2014 A6 with the 19" wheels (not with the sport suspension tuning) running the Continental 255/40-19. The roads in northern Wisconsin are not very smooth. I am considering buying tires sized 255/45-19 to increase the sidewall by .5" to get a more forgiving tire. I will check for fit and know I will have to have my speedo recalibrated. The dealer won't do any of this because they will be sanctioning a non standard configuration. Has anyone else installed tires with a wider sidewall and what has been your experience?

I went to a 245/xx-18 on my old A6 with summer tires, vs the 235/xx-17s and it only through the speedometer off a little. As long as they fit and match all around, you can vary the sizes. You hit on the problem with 18 and 19 inch rims in the midwest.
