Default A6 brake problem - warranty issue

My A6 wagon is currently at the dealer undergoing the last service in my 4year, 40K warranty. At my two year service (18,000 miles ago) they replaced my rear brakes under the warranty but today they have told me that all four need to be replaced and the warranty won't cover it. they will 'do me a favor' and do the pads for free - but i have to pay $500 to have the disks done (parts & labor).

does this sound correct and/or legal?

they are already in the process of replacing them as i gave them the go ahead before i looked back at my old service agreements - so at this point what is my recourse?

Is this a new vehicle warranty or aftermarket. If its new all of that should be covered.

Audi doesnt cover replacement of brake rotors

But pads are always covered, so when they say they are "doing you a favor" they arent because they are covered under warranty

They are just bending you over man. I would pick it up and take it to a local shop that works on Audis. Never get normal maintenance done at the stealer. They are all crooks.

Audi doesnt cover replacement of brake rotors
They cover them as long as they are at the replacement specification. Unless your complaining of a brake pulsation the only reason to replace the rotors is because they are at minimum specification.

Well it seems we were doing things differently on the East Coast compared to Mid West
but i do know for a fact we never replaced rotors under warranty in the last 8 months

Odd how that works huh. Ive seen stuff that one dealer will refuse to cover, the customer calls around and finds a dealer that will fix it under warranty. I guess the moral of the story is to call around. Maybe another dealer will cover something one dealer told you they wont.

Or, just never go to the dealer again. Like I said. They rip people off and those service guys will BS you until your blue.

like dankhound said if they are to min. specification they can be covered under warranty or if they are warped..i think they have to be .015 for warranty to cover warped rotors. alot depends on the tech as well. some reccomend rotor replacement when not necessary for the fact that it pays more. and yes service advisors are full of bs. always try to talk to the tech, the tech can provide a better explanation, alot of times the service advisor has never worked on cars before and only knows what the technician tells him.
