A6, 3.0, CVT, 2003. Transmission is busted. Need to change my gearbox.

I want to know what type of gearbox do I have in my car. How do I find out my gearbox/transmission code to order a replacement?

A sticker in the trunk said the following:

ENG. CODE/TRANS. CODE : BBJ

Is this correct? Attaching the snapshot of the sticker as well.

Please advice urgently.

 

You order a replacement CVT after the VIN.
Brace yourself for hefty $$$-urgency is hardly a condition here.

 

I've heard of the CVT transmissions failed somewhat frequently. I'd consider a swap if you have the time and know how.

I'd consider dumping the car!

 

I like the idea of dumping. Considering it but what resale do I get without a working tranny? So need to get it up and running before selling it off.

To do that, I need to understand what gearbox fits into this one.

Any idea which tranny would go with this car?

The tranny code is FSA. BBJ is the engine code. I suggest you checking the TCM (transmission control module) first, might be replacing it will fix the problem.
