Default Which A6 to get??

Quick question. I am about to buy my first Audi. I have done a fair bit of research mainly between the 2006-2007 Audi A6 3.2 versus the 2006/2007 BMW 530xi. I have chosen to go with the A6. My question is related to the S-line package. I am confused as to what it offers. Is there a noticeable difference in the look of the car? Is there a noticeable difference in teh driveability of the car?

Any thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.

The best way to get familiar with the car is to drive one!
Go to nearest the dealer and test drive, then get list of packages and features, then take a look what cars are under repairs in the shop.

^ typical friendly SAAB guy... LOL. Just kidding man.
NOW, to actually answer some Qs here-
S-Line is a sport pakage. You get upgraded larger wheels, a sportier suspension with a lower ride height. Some sportier trim inside and out. So it will feel more direct, more fun to drive. Since its a C6, there isnt any change in power.

So, I drove an 06 3.2 s-line yesterday. There is a clear difference in the handling, although it feels somewhat underpowers. There are some minor esthetic differences, however, nothing major. I can't help but wonder if I should be loooking at the 4.2 instead of teh 3.2. Would the difference in fuel costs but offset by the pleasure in driving such a powerful car? I'll try one today.

BTW, forgive the ignorance,, but what is the C6?

The 4.2L will be quick, especially off the line, the differnce is about 2 MPG. C6 is the design generation of A6.

C6 is model year designation, like from 05-current. I have a C5, 1998-2004. The S-line in our style, had the 2.7T, and it got an extra 15hp along with the styling.
The 4.2 should get in the low 20s on the highway. low to mid teens driving around. We have a VW Touareg with a non-FSI 4.2 and it usually gets 19 on the highway, and about 15 in stop and go. And that is a big 5300 lbs SUV, not bad IMO. For me, I would get the 4.2, as long as I had the means to do so.

Cool, some good responses... see that wasn't so hard ?! ;-)
Just kidding. SAAB drivers are friendly, thats why we have such a great forum. I'm poking around on Audi forums because I too am looking for an A6 to drive, one day...

In reality, gas mileage difference between the 4.2 and 3.2 is minimal, if not negligeable. Also based on your driving characteristics, 4.2 might even give you a better mileage.

I would be more concerned with the maintenance cost than the fuel cost. Obviously the tune up costs are higher... On C5s, major issue with V8s was that it tended to fry the transmission. That is not a cheap fix.
