Default A6 Headlights

I just purchased a 04 A6 2.7t. It appears that the head lights are
misaligned. One points up the other seems level. It is not drastic but I can see it on my garage door. Just enough to **** me off. My question is, since these are self adjusting. Will I have to put my kids on the black market to pay for an adjust ment or is this something I can do.

Hey man I got an 01 2.7 T with the exact same problem. It's tearing the a$$ out of me. My driver's side is ok but my passenger side is beaming up higher than normal.

I heard that it could possibly be the motoron the light. There are two motors for each light. There are also two sensors underneath the car (one on the lower control arm and one directly behind it in the rear of the car) that operate the motors...and determine whether the lights go up or down according to conditional or direction of the vehicle.

Now, from my understanding if there is a problem with the sensors both lights will be out of alignment. So, I think in our case it just might be a loose connection (keep your fingers crossed) or the motors are faulty.
I tried checking the connection today, and I gotta tell you I am mechanically inclined but new to Audis (German cars persay) I have always done work to domesic cars...i.e.1963 Corvette Stingray 383 chevy stroker...etc. So, I was alittle intimidated by what I saw in the tiny compact engine compartment.

I am not sure if we can do a simple adjustment using the screws on the headlights. I am in the same boat as you, dude.

If you find a remedy for this please pass the info on to me I will do the same.

Good Luck
E

I just checked my senors mounted on the control arm and I think there ok. I disconnected and reconnected, no signs of corrosion or other possible defects. No change. I am due for an oil change on Monday, so unbeknownst to my mechanic he has a little more work to do. Last week it was two front axles and brakes all around. Just bought the car a month ago.

I'll let you knowhow it turns out. Maybe at least I can save you some cash.

not to insult guys, but have you even bothered to look under your hood yet? There are two adjustment screws. They are a whitish plastic and are easily located on the top of the headlights. Turn the lights on, let them self level, then align as you please. All the motors do is LEVEL the lights, so if you carry a heavy weight in the trunk your lights aren't pointed up. It does not control the AIM of the lights. If one light is aimed too high it will level it too high. Good luck.

MaybeI had alot to drink whenI first wrote this but, the PASSENGER MOTORDOES NOT LEVELITSELF,IT BEAMS STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR.Sorry, but the PHILLIES just clinched the national east, so I am alittle fired up right now.

Yeah,I thought about adjusting the lights, but why would I adjust it when it worked fine three days ago. I did not get into an accident or run into a mets fan or anything like that. The passenger side light just stopped leveling. I think its the motor. True?

Well I just dropped the car to my mechanic. I gotta say if your in the Central NJ area this guy is awesome. He knows his sh^t. So, I will get the car back tomorrow. Hopefully with the lights fixed.

Edjenks is your problem the motor or the light itself? Do your lights still move up and down accordingly? Just my driver's side moves that’s why I think its the passenger side motor. You can certainly use the adjustment screwsto re-align ifyour motors are functional. I called the dealership today and an Audi parts rep says the motors are$110.00 each.

That’s not that bad. Wonder what’s it like to install them.

I will post tomorrow night and let you know if my mechanic remedied my problem
