Default A6 hesitating at low RPM's, codes pulled

Hello good people.., I own a 2002 A6 3.0 with FWD, and for a while now, sometimes when I accelerate (apply pressure on the gas pedal) the car seems to stutter/hesitate (between 1500-2000rpm) before picking-up speed. This issue is more common after the engine has warmed-up, since in the mornings (this winter) when i leave home for work, the car rides like a queen for about 15 mins, then begins stuttering on acceleration after having warmed-up.

I pulled up these codes today:P0441, P0431, and P0421.

Could the above codes be a cause of the stuttering?
Any ideas on what to do about the stuttering/hesitation?

Thanks in adv!

I think that since you have possibly 2 bad cats that some of your performance issues could be attributed to that. Do you have less than 80k on the car? They are federally warrantied for 8 years/80k and you are right at the 8 year mark. A long time ago Audi issues a software update to change the threshold for setting cat efficiency errors. Maybe that's all your cats need.

Your multitronic CVT could also be to blame, they are known for their "issues".

Best of luck,

Jeff

Thanks for the response, Jeffla.

I have 111k miles on my A6 and I've been dodging this "cat replacement question" for a quite a while now (since I read somewhere that they shouldn't affect performance) but looks like there's no escaping!

I'll probably be going for a universal cat converter. Has anyone on here tried one of those and had no probs? ECS has them listed at $89.95 a piece.

I have 2 aftermarket cats and so far they have been just fine. I'd research more into the multitronic CVT transmission before spending a lot of money on the cats.
