A6 Major leak but not Motor Oil
Strange Leak problem,
Was coming home from beach and heard a noise, pulled over and found my 98-A6 had a steady (light) stream of oil. I figured I had cracked the oil pan and the leak was not that big, so I drove home checking oil every 10 mile and adding some as I went.
Got home, parked for less than 5 mins (to pull another car off lift), started the A6 pulled it in got it up. No more leak? I washed the oil pan and transmission pan off with brake clean and keep looking for anything.
The driveway trail shows the car coming in and stopping but that’s the end of it.
I think it must have been from transmission as motor has plenty oil. Plus the trail is not as heavy as motor oil. How much do they hold as I figured I was losing about quart every 10 mins and I drove 60+ miles.
Any thought? And how do I check transmission level at home?
