Default a6 navigation???

I bought a used 2006 a6 quattro a few weeks ago. It has turned me into an audi lover for life! I am interested in getting the navigation installed.... What steps would I need to take to do this? I need the system that goes in the trunk though. The dealer said the car is wired for navigation but I need the actual system that goes into the trunk compartment. Thanks!

I think you'd be shelling out some major $$$$. Parts would be a DVD player, the Nav DVD and wiring. You'd need to run wiring up through C-pillar. Then I believe there's some setup to be done in the MMI to recognize the navigation.

I'd just by a Garmin or other portable GPS, but that's just me.

This guy has done a navigation retrofit in his C6.

Congrats on the A6. I also bought an 06 A6 4.2 S-line a few months ago. Traded up from a 2004 A4 1.8T. I loved the A4, but the A6 is something else. It's quiet, very very good handling for a 4000+ lb car, nice linear power. It's really an incredible car. Every time I drive it I can't help but smile.

The original owner must have been a cheap bastard. It will run you $1,200 to retrofit an OEM type system. It is much cheaper to get a portable.

What's $ 1,200 for someone spending 28-30,000 on a 2006 A6?
Go through the dealer and have it installed professionally; don't be a "cheap bastard" like the previous owner...

P.S. There are people who just don't care about navigation

I agree that the OEM is much nicer, that is why when I dropped $60K to buy my A6 new I opted for the Nav option.
