A6 Quattro Fuel Economy

I am considering a late model A6 Quattro (2014 or 2015). Fuel economy is important to me. In researching the A6, the EPA estimated fuel economy is 29/20 (highway/city) for the Quattro but 33/25 for the front wheel drive model. I am surprised that AWD would reduce fuel economy by 5 MPG. What are your experiences with real world gas mileage on A6 Quattro's or FWD?
Thanks.

I have been getting around 30-32 mpg highway when I use the Efficiency Drive Mode, and 19-21 mpg around town in Auto mode for a 2012 3.0T Quattro. It will depend a lot on your foot, as well as traffic flow conditions.
