A6 Quattro revs rapidly increasing with no acceleration.
Hi.
As titled, I'm having this issue with my car. Seems to happen whatever the weather -
I'll be driving normally, and notice that the revs are increasing rapidly (as I push down on the accelerator), but the cars gains no more speed.
I let go of the pedal and then re-press it, the revs fall back into line (where they should be for my speed and gear) and the car continues to drive normally.
While the revs are increasing the car still feels "in gear", rather than as if it had just slipped into neutral.
This just happens randomly, in various gears, for no apparent reason that I can think of.
Car specifics:
Audi A6 Avant 3.0TDi Quattro, January 2007, manual, serviced annually by Audi Belfast although the last service was at a private garage.
This was happening (rarely, but enough for me to remember it) before the last service, although it seemed to have stopped for a while. It's just started happening again the past few days. It's now happening every time I drive the car.
I'm not a mechanically-minded person at all. I would imagine it's a clutch or transmission problem?
Thanks,
Rikki.

Hi,
did you ever find out what the root of the problem was?
My A6 3.0TDI Quattro Lemans 2007 has just developed this very same issue.. ive had it for around 17 months now and it had had a new clutch fitted when i bought it.
Since ive had it i cannot say i have ever notice this happening and today it was very noticeable on the motorway or any time the car hit the rev range where the turbo was running.. a quick increase and then drop in revs but no sudden movement or jerk from the car.. i am also Suspecting clutch..
