Does anyone know how to check the airbag light? My 99 A6 airbag light is ON and I want to know what's wrong with it. I don't want to go to the Stealer cuz they'll charge me $120 just to check it. Any KNOW HOW?

 

you need diagnostic equipment to check it and turn it off

you got 2 choices ...............take the bulb out or pay the bill! Personally i would like to know that my head was gonna kiss something soft rather than the screen! I work in the car accident repair business and its wierd some cars like volvos you just got to tap them in the front and half the insides bust apart from the airbags Whereas Mercs you gotta plough into a truck at 70mph for them to even trigger the seatbelt trouble is by this time youve redesigned your head! I seen a M class totally knackered and wheres the airbag? still in the wheel!
Merc actually examined the car to see why!

 

Don't worry yet about the air bag light. The light tends to come on when it is cold out. This is common it happened to me this morning and when off a few hours later

 

my airbag recently came on 96 A6 avant. not sure whats up with it. hope the airbag still works.

 

if the SRS light is on then the airbags wont work the light indicates there is a problem so it shuts them off
