Alloys for HP2 front disc/calipers
Hi & Help.
OK I've got a 2000 A6 2.7T with the HP2 4 pad calipers.
Bought 3 months ago.
Car has been fitted with post-factory RS4 copies (18").
Wheels vibrated madly and I found 8mm spacers on front. Took off and check clearance and all was fine.
Now I've just fitted new discs and pads to from (boy are they big discs)
Now I know why spaces were on. With new pads the calipers hit the inside of the spokes.
Spacers are back on but I want to fit alloys without spacers.
So bottom line question. I can get 18" RS4 alloys with a 35mm ET (I am assuming the fitted ones are 45mm, but need to whip wheels off again to check later this week).
Is anyone by chance running 18" RS4 copies with 35mm on the HP2 calipers and getting clearance with no spacers.
If so I can get a set online very reasonable in UK and sort this out
Many thanks in advance
Danny

RE: Alloys for HP2 front disc/calipers
OK done some more research.
The RS4 replicas fitted which catch the HP2 calipers unless the 6mm spacers are on are already 35mm offsets!!!
Now discovered that original wheel was a RS6 style 5 spoke 16" with 45mm offset.
However if you look at the internal profile of the RS6 wheel the spokes bend away from the calipers, whilst the RS4s bend inwards.
Basically I cant see how you could get RS4s to clear the calipers without an offset of at least 25mm which don't exist. (Don't like spacers!)
Now looking to get a set of RS6 replicas with original 45mm offset, but probably 17" or 18".
Off to local dealer in morning
Cheers
