Amazing Cheap Exhaust Setup for 98 99 00 01 A6
I wanted exhaust for my 2001 Audi A6 2.8 Quattro. The exhaust shops told me that aftermarket mufflers would not fit and my only option was straight glasspacks.Glasspack Straight-thruMufflersdo not belong on an Audi. I did not want to hack up my bumper for cutouts like so many 98-01 Audi owners do. I wanted something different...something impressive...well I did it! The answer was 2 $20Cherrybomb Turbo Mufflers. I usedmufflers with a 2" sideinlet and2" centeroutlet. These are not straight pipe glasspacks...they are mufflers. They are 4" thick, 8" wide, and 13" long (notcounting outlet/inlet). I wasafraid to pick the car up because I was not quite sure how it would sound.IT SOUNDSAMAZING! It's not too loud, not ricey, it's just a nice sound. I noticed performance gains also.Accelerationis slightlyquicker and there is lesshesitation between gears. This is the best $100 I have ever spent.

Wow, who would have thought that Cherry Bombs would work. I know these are not the old school glasspacks, but wouldn't have been nice ifyou put on the old glass packs?
Anyways, sounds great.

I got them from a store here in Michigan called Meijer for $20 a piece. It is basically like a Wal-Mart. I don't know of any Meijer Stores back home in Pittsburgh, PA. They alsosell them at a store in Pittsburgh called Trader Horn. If you are interested, I'm sure the store can work something out.

I would use the Turbo or Turbo II series.Ihave the Turbo II series on my A6.The otherseries may sound good also, but Idon't know from experience. I have also used Cherrybomb straight through glasspack pipesand they sounded great, but those wereon my 1998 Chevy 1500 with a 5.7L V8. All I can say is it is the best bang for the buck...sounds like I spent $600...but I spent more like $100. Hope this helps!
