APR Chip with K04 turbos?

Is it safe to combine an APR chip with K04 turbos sans the upgrade on fuel injectors? I read mixed reviews about it, possibly causing damage to the vehicle in the long run.

Hi

Any chip upgrade will stress factory turbos and the transmission in the long run. A chip upgrade, plus a turbo upgrade to KO4's will stress the transmission, the internals of the engine and other drivetrain parts with time and mileage. When these cars are designed, engineers naturally limit them from their full potential for the sake of longevity...and to stay together through the warranty period. If you start making a lot of extra power with upgraded ECU's and turbos, then it will defintely shorten the life span and longevity of other vehicle parts. I would think the transmission would be the first problem area... being that the torque converter and other internal parts are not engineered to handle the added horsepower and torque a chipped engine will put on it.

i've got a tip with a 3- tune. i've had it for about 3yrs now and the car runs great. other than fixing boost leaks and other random audi issues the car has been great. what twinturboC5 said is very true you are shortening the longevity of the car by upgrading it but as long as you maintain and run the proper upgrades you'll be fine. staying on top of your cars maintenance is key. your problems/maintenance will increase x2 at least with the added boost.

the tranny WILL be the first major thing to go. a torque converter upgrade and valve body recalibration is recommended.
