Audi A6 2.7t Oil Capacity ???????????????????
#42
I'm still doing research and learning a lot. But its not easy finding everything you want to know.
I've read people say in forums that i found on google that the pentospeed is like a top tier oil or something, someone switched to mobil 1 0w40 after using the pentospeed 0w30 and didn't like the mobil 1 0w40 at all, i think it was in a 1.8t or a 2.0t...
Does anyone know if the new mobil 1 5w30 will be thinner at lower temps than the tried and tested mobil 1 0w40? If so, then I will probably go for either the new mobil 1 5w-30 or the motul x-lite 0w-30.
Also, an interesting thing is that ecstuning has this
Audi C5 A6 Quattro 2.7T > Maintenance > Engine > Oil > ES#261374 8100 Eco-Nergy Engine Oil (0w-30) - 1 Liter - 841311
in the description of it it says x-lite,
but then they have x-lite here:
Audi C5 A6 Quattro 2.7T > Maintenance > Engine > Oil > ES#261379 8100 X-Lite Engine Oil (0w-30) - 5 Liter - 841351
what exactly is the difference between these 2? or is it just the same thing?

- I don't know the exact difference between the two Motul oils (other than one is a single liter and one is five liters), but given the certifications they list, they are A) good oil for your car, and B) both rather old forumlations.
- By definition, 5W-30 of any brand and formulation will be thicker than 0W-40 when chilled down to 0°C (and below).

I bought my A6 2.7T from the original owner who used Mobil 0W-40 and I continued the tradition from 37K to 236K. At almost a quarter million miles it never lost a drop between 8-10k mile oil changes. A 0W- weight is a must in the frozen north during the winter, and I would consider a 5W- in the summer in the south. But clean, fresh, spec oil regardless of brand is the key.
