Sorry to come across as a dick, but you have just asked the biggest noob un-audi smart question..... turboing a 2.8. It is worthless. Because the engine is not built to make power, more then 12PSI will more than likely put holes in your block. I mean it. You have a 2.8, CAI, exhaust, chip, and be happy. If you MUST make power from you 2.8, supercharge it, but other than that, sell it and buy a 2.7T. Just a chip, about $500, will get you 300hp and 380 ft. lbs.

I have read thread after thread of this kind of crap, done tons of research, it is by far not worthless. I also have a 2.8, CAI and exhaust, no chip yet, and Im in the low 7s to 60. Its fast enough for me, especially since stock was about 9 SEC according to C&D.

By the way you type, you must be illiterate. You have no business telling people you KNOW you can get 300 hp or more from your car. Because if thats what you truly think, you know NOTHING! You would also know that your CAI probably lost HP, unless you have a trick heat shield. Which I have in the makings, all it really does is make sweet sounds, which makes it seem faster, but its not.

I dont know everything there is to know, but I know a **** ton about moding these cars, as does OC-Audica, so Id listen up if I were you.

And BTW Wammy, that is irrelevant. The 2.8 does not have any forged internals, and has a 2 bolt main, where as the 2.7 has a forged crank stock and a 4 bolt main. Audi designed it to make and handle power, the 2.8 was not. And the 2.8 A6 stock puts about 130hp to the wheels, exhaust and chip will get you in the 140s. If you can get 150 AWHP from a 2.8 A6, you my friend are doing great! Stock 2.7Ts only put ~200 to the wheels. And another example, a 340 hp B6 S4, puts ~270 hp to the wheels, some dynos have shown as little as 230!!!!

O and BTW OP, your car does sound nice, very aggressive. Two thumbs up on that part!

You won't get 300whp, even out of an outta-the-box S/C. PES has a crappy tune for them so your better choice would be getting a custom map written for your car. A turbo CAN be done, but you'll spend so much time and $ on it it wouldn't be worth it. The block can only handle upwards of 12psi, some have even blown it at 11 so 9 is the preferred setting. A S/C can make more power with lower compression, a turbo needs to build up and depending on it's size they make real power over 25psi. You get the picture, it's almost impossible to get 300whp out of a 2.8 without over hauling your motor, and even then it won't make more than 350ish

 

Well, 29k is pretty sweet, so I would def keep it. And if you got some high flow cats in addtion to your borla and CAI, your car should be able to walk civics. I can. That is my next mod, chip after that.

Those chips you are looking at are garbage. Go with a reputable vendor/product such as GIAC. If so, it will cost you close to $500. Let me warn you that even with a $500 chip, you are looking at about 10 additional horsepower. With intake, exhaust and chip, the most you will be looking at is about 20 horsepower gain. It will not even be close to 300.

 

^ +1... GIAC chip. Its the only way I would go. Gets you 10 hp, 10 ft.lbs, 7100 rpm rev limiter, and a broader power curve, o and better mpgs. This is all claimed, but it gets great reviews.

well we have a rims and tires shop and this customer referred me to tht website and he had a 2.8l a4 2000 and he said tht their chips r amazing and he said tht thts wat he was using n it gave him about 35 hp ... and i went to other forums and their cheap chip got amazing reviews...n lyk idk im thinkin of maybe jus buying tht n if its not worth it ill jus go to one of the dealers here n get a GIAC chip order...

 

35hp on any N/A chip is bullshit. 10 @ the crank MAXIMUM. But if you want to buy into it go ahead
