Audi A6 just shuts off while driving..

So I have a 1999 Audi A6 2.8L and I am told by my dad as he was driving it today that it just randomly shut off.. When I say shut off I mean the car was running and he was driving locally(thank god) and the car just shut off. It turned back on after pressing the gas pedal in a few times, but what could be the reason as to why it just shut off? I know the valve cover gasket is slightly leaking, but I don't see why that would cause it. I just got the flex pipes repaired as well as 1 CC, the other CC needs to be changed too, but again I don't see why that would cause the car to just stall..

okay so I brought the car around the block myself and then checked the codes cause the check engine light was on.. Sadly my ODB II tester doesn't tell me what these codes are so if anyone can help that'd be great..

P1141
P1129
P1127
P1857

Could someone please tell me what those codes are if they have a better book than I do.. and would these codes be the cause to the problem I'm having?

No word on the first three (doesn't sound like a big deal) https://www.audiforums.com/forum/audi-a6-9/cel-codes-p0411-p1141-p1129-p1127-p1139-80542/

Sounds like your biggest issue is the P1857 which is discussed here: https://www.audiforums.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=102731

Sounds like you may need to take it somewhere to have the computer system totally reset, at least that's what i got out of searching google (where you could have at least started...)

I did start there, but thought maybe better off coming here and asking to see if anyone else experienced the same problem. I've also determined that the other codes seem to have to do with the MAF. So I guess i'll start by removing the MAF and cleaning it as well as maybe finding a place to reset the ECU.

After googling some, I haven't really found a cure to the 1857 code besides maybe taking it to the dealer.. Any other suggestions before I do?

Clean the MAF and recalibrate the throttle body by disconnecting the battery, waiting a few minutes and reconnecting the battery. Once reconnected, turn the ignition to on position without starting the car. Wait 3 to 4 minutes. In the mean time, you should be able to hear faint noise made by the throttle body. If you are lucky, this may fix the problem.
