audi a6 problems

i recently bought a 2005 audi a6 3.2, and today i was reading a consumer report magazine. apparently the 2005 a6 has the worst rating for 'minor engine problems' i was wondering if anyone else had come across that, and if anyone knows of any common engine problems and at what mileage they may occur at. thanks

The problems are with the 3.2, not the 4.2. If you go to the ebahn website you will see that there are several TSBs issued in conncection with the 3.2s engine. With the TSBs in hand you can see if the prior owner addressed these issues when the work could have been done for free. If the prior owner ignored the TSBs you may be in for an expensive ride. Based on your other posts where it appears the prior owner ignored the TSBs for MMI updates, I am guessing that you may be in for some trouble.

I took a look at ebahn's site. The 3.2 seems to suffer from oil leaks out of the upper engine area. There are TSBs on the camshaft seals, camshaft gaskets and camshaft caps.

RE: audi a6 problems

Hey guys (and gals!)- I'm interested in this thread since I have an '07 A6 3.2. First, can I assume that theissues with the '05's would have been cleared up by now? Also,I can't access the ebahn websites but from checking the TSB section on this forum, it looks like there may still be some problems with the engine (relatively minor it looks like). Would the dealer "automatically" be taking care of any updates that are required? Should I be worried about these engine issues at this point?

Thanks for any feedback.
