Audi A6 rear light problem?
Driving home today I saw yet another A6 with the same problem that I have seen on others of the same generation. This one was a wagon but I have seen sedans have the same issue and around here I see one of these every few months. I attached a picture below, but my question is, why do I see so many A6's with a rear light that is "stuck" on? Or is this normal? It was on even when the driver's brakes were not.

That must be the rear fog light...
Obviously, since you see so many with the same light "problem" it means that are a bunch of square heads out there using them even when are not foggy conditions. Good thing that the other car brands don't have them... It became a "trend" for more and more "drivers" to drive with the fog lights on, with gross or obtuse disregard toward the other traffic co-participants... To paraphrase an old song: "Pic reveals a ...douche, in Massachusetts; You just told us that... he's not alone. And fog lights are popping up in Massachusetts, Those drivers' heads are only filled with bone" |
Haha chefro! That must be it. It was so bright it practically blinded me. My question is though why do I always see the left one and not the right one on?

The rear fog was only on the left side for 1998 to 2001. Audi added the right side fog light in 2002. I think I've used the rear fogs only a couple of times...once in really dense fog, and a couple of times just to fend off a tailgater on the higway.

It is the rear fog, some states allow there use, some states don't.

Traditionally you only had 1 rear fog light as with 2 illuminated, people would not immediately know if you were slowing down/stopping or your fog lights were on. Only idiots drive around with their rear fog light on when they are not in dense fog/snow. IMHO they look like idiots, same as the people that haven't figured out that their day time running lights are not headlights.

I can vouch that there are two on my 2003. I only use them in heavy fog or snow...and occasionally flash them at the moronic tailgater trying to scare them into thinking I was slamming on the brakes. But morons are persistent, so it doesn't back them off for long.

Well thanks guys! I guess it's not a problem with Audi but a problem with stupid driver's. This particular one was a woman and a mass resident so... you know..... LOL.
