Thumbs down Are Audi A6 's rotten lemon cars , or its my luck??

As I'm an independent mechanic, I've been working over 7 years with japanese and american cars, Some beemers and mercedes on the way also.

I've bought back in 99 a brand new Audi A6 2000 2.8 30V, as I wanted to get my hard work trophy. It has been my car ever since. well to tell you the truth, the first 5 years were
the best years driving this car ( Obviously as it is a New Car!!), after all passion and precise and accurate visits to its warranty tunes and oil changes and all my baby care ive given, its seems that the car has taken posession and revealed to me his dark side. as I've been beginning to fix everything that this car had broken. I've decided that this is enough a I want to know another persons point of view in this.

- I will summarize every repair ive done so far with this car and let you be the judge.

1. @ 69,500 - Timing Belt Job ( Water Pump, Tensioners, Thermostat, Etc.)

2. @ 69,500 - When lifting the car up in the shop for the timing job, I've found out
torned cv boots and Front Control Arms needed replacement ( loose boots
and joints), Front Shock Stuts also.
- Cam Seals and crankshaft seals were leaking
( Replaced also)

A total of $1,100 in parts ( Job done Myself)

3. @ 75,000 - Leaking Valve Cover Gaskets ( $40 bucks), (Job done Myself)

4. @ 77,000 - Hydraulic Brake Line that goes to the brake caliper, leaking
( $5 bucks) ( Job done Myself)

5 @ 78,000 - After a Month after the brake fluid leak, Ho Ho Ho !!
Power Steering Rack started leaking PS fluid. ( I've remember that
morning I've noticed it). I've droved filling fluid for a month until the rack
blew seals.
$600- paid for the rebuild
( replaced Myself, " I was about to self
charge me $600 for the job" what a pain
it was)

6 @ 81,000 - Alternator gone ( Normal behavior in any car) $200 the part.
Radiator clogged ( overheating) Cleaning and unclogging ( Done myself)

7 @ 84,000 - Old Serpetine Belt was old. ( This is normal) Replaced ( $20)

8 @ 87,000 - AC compressor leaked r-134 jajaja !! , replaced and refilled. ( $300 )

9 @ 91,000 - AND let the coolant lines leak the fruit punch juice!!!
- Started leaking engine right side ( Replaced all of them )
- Back Heater Hoses also started to leak, I've just bypass those,
not using the heater. over $250 in hoses. some were a heck of a
job to change.

- Vapor Hoses seems to be made of cheap plastic, all broken in
pieces just for removing them, replaced with heater hoses.

10 @ 92,000 - Engine Mounts and Transmission Mounts ( Replaced Myself ) $100 parts

11 @ 92,000 - AC EVAPORATOR mayor leak, Screw the A/C im not injecting more money
into the car + plus removing the dash !NO WAY!. Im pissed at this point.

13 @ 94,000 - ( Actual Date August 25 2008 ) Just replaced the Power Steering Pump
myself $200, Also I've Noticed that I had another Oil Leak, this time from
the pan gasket

14 @ 94,000 - ** AT Tranny started to give me synthoms like celenoids or worse
started going bad, ( changing from 1st to 2nd or viceversa in low
rev makes the car shake a bit sometimes)**

This were all car repair history I've done to mines, Luckly Im a mechanic,
I would not believe how much I will cost me to repair all that If I wasn't

At this point Im considering throwing this week the car on a trade in for a new G35

So people, tell me what would you do In this case?

Thanks

You're not alone buddy!

I have for sure had:
1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

13* my steering is probably leaking, it is a bit stiff sometimes but I never got it checked

*cam seals under warranty @ 80k
*abs module dead @ 90k (still dead 4 years later)
*fuel pump died @ 170k
*replaced driveshaft rear cv boot
*busted 2 oil pans but that was my fault
*cts went out and stranded me! @ 175k
*replaced all vac lines (that was just maintenance)

and countless other replacements, but normal ones like o2s and fuel filter etc (also going to be doing the 3rd timing belt job, eh maybe in about 6mos if I still have the car then)

What to do is based more on what direction you want to go (you're lucky to be able to fix it all yourself unlike me I gotta pay shops and live check to check because of it) ~ I'm 3mos away from paying off a 60month loan on a car that has 185,000 miles on it

Your A/C you may wanna check the condenser or the compressor, as you mention It hasn't leak, maybe its the internal pulley on the compressor. Steering JUMM, pray my friend that it is not the rack, or boy you're in for serious repairs, to replace the rack you have to take out first the front train and lower the transmission.

But man Im glad Im not alone. what a pain those cars are.
I've been fixing cars for a while, I haven't seen anything like this,

I have buddies of mine with tercels, I just had them repair their alternators and changed
thermostat, another 70,000 to go!

Its a shame an expensive car with such problems!.

I've heard this before and I'm coming up on some of those mileages. I did get a 4 year warrenty when I bought the car which is good since my CPO warrenty is about to end.
