Default Vibration when turning?

When making a turn no matter how slow or fast I go, I can feel a mild vibration from the car. My first thought was a cv joint, but there is no clicking sound. Anyone have an idea? I have an AWD. No mods on the car whatsoever. Thanks!

Maybe a wheel bearing, tie rod end. If your control arms start to go, you can usually hear a knocking sound, for example driving over a speed bump, going over a pothole.

Is this a new sound? If not, ifyou hear it only whenthe wheel is more than half cocked than it' s normal. Mycar does the same thing. It's the AWD feature.Have you ever tried making a k-turn in a truck/suvin 4-wheel drive. Its the so called, wheel hop. It's the same principal.

Right??

Or, do you have a totally different probem?

I just bought the car a week ago, so not sure how long it's been doing it. I'll have the drive axles checked just incase. Thanks!

yea my car does that too ... its the awd ... ur going too fast and the 4 wheels have too much traction to turn so to speak so when ur wheel is cut hard it will vib until it is eased out of the turn ... this is normal

it might be your tie rod... my car had the same problem and when the mechanic lifted my car he shook one of the wheels and it was a little bit loose but the other side was just fine.

Good call, xppterz_A6. Tombigbee, I would lift the car and grab the tire/wheel at 12 and 6 and see if there is any play in the tie rods, test both sides. There should be zero play. If your still not sure have an honest and reputible mechanic double check it for your minds sake. Most likely, its the AWD system as joetm and myself pointed out. Good luck!

I had the same problem with mine. When turning I got the vibration, even when turning the wheel slightly when driving on the highway. Took it to the mechanic and they lifted it up and and found play in the right front wheel. They replaced the inner and outer tie rods and the problem went away.

Does the problem happen when you turn in both directions, or just one? If it happens in only one direction, looks like your tie rods on that side are bad. That's what happened with mine. Have someone put it up on a lift and shake the wheel. Thats a quick way of diagnosing the problem.

It happens on a left or right turn. It's probably the AWD. I had an alignment the other day. If I'm not mistaken, they check the front end before doing the alignment.

To properly check the tie rods, grap the tire at 3 and 9 o'clock and try to turn the wheel. You should see no play at either the tie rod outer or the boot covering the tie rod inner. To check control arms, grap the tire at 12 and 6 and do the same.
