Auxillary cooling fan...

RE: Auxillary cooling fan...
Did your auxilliary fan switch have the three pins or the four pins? The 1998 A6 may be wired differently than the 1998 A6 wagon, which has the three pin auxilliary fan switch and the AFC engine.

Well I just took it to the mechanic and he after 3 days found 2 corroded wires. Which at first did not give the relay power after he fixed those the relay got power. Now the relay is not sending out power, which I am sure the relay is down now. The part number of it is

Your not gonna be able to find that relay from any other place other than the dealer.
You have to remember the price at the dealer isn't set in stone, the parts guy gets a percentage so you can talk the price down, usually cost to the dealeris about 40% less than the price they give you.

If your 1998 Audi A6 has the 2.8L AHA 30 valve engine, you may have a radiator fan control unit. Try looking up your car for parts at www.audi-parts-direct.com , for a picture. You may want to get that Bentley CD, as mine covers only the 1998 A6 wagon, not the sedan.

There are two possible radiator fan control units, so you need to know if you have or don't have an auxilliary water pump on a 1998 2.8L AHA 30 valve engine. To see a picture of the auxilliary pump try www.audicarparts.com .
There is also an auxilliary fan resistor which could fail. On my 1998 A6 wagon the resistor is only visible from below on the left side with the plastic sound insulation pan removed.
