Default Bad bushings?

98 A6 141K

creaking when I turn or go over bumps.

Took the car into Les Schwab, the dealer is an hour away, and they told me the creaking noise is due to the bushings were bad. So the tech told me he lubed the bushing and see if the noise goes away. It has helped some but not eliminated the noise. I can hear the creek if I push down on the front end of the car.

I have been given a few suggestions:
*rack-and-pinion steering issues
*control arm replacement
*struts

any suggestions on what to check or possible causes?

It was the control arms and all four needed to be replaced.

I replace the 4 control arms on the driver's side and now the passenger side is having the same issues. Looks like I have the shop replace the control arms on the passenger's side now. $750 for the to have them replaced.

The shop has confirmed that the passenger side will need replacing.

Are you saying $750 for BOTH sides or $750 for each side? Thanks for the postings.

look on the bright side, now. They will probably last you for the rest of the ownership.
(Expensive deal, though)
Hopefully the rear arms don't go next bad on you.

I just did my upper control arms. It was a tough job (damn pinch bolt). That is rough ($750) per side... I would definitely consider doing that myself if you have time and tools.
