Default Best Hwy Car I've Owned

I just had to make a fastemergency 1650 mile round trip. !st long trip since I bought the car and I am impressed. 2 of the days were 10 hour drives and I could have kept driving. I've never been able to stay in a car that long. (Had to stop for a squirt and a diablo sandwich.)I've had Mercedes', Volvos and Jags and none of them come close.

A6's are great cruising cars, the seats (non sport) are soo comfortable I drove last March down I75 from Detroit all the way to southern Georgia before my wife started to drive (at 5am).
Glad you like the ride.

I just did Milwaukee to NYC via Philadelphia, somewhere right about 1000 miles. A few times I was worried because I would almost forget I was driving. I even hit some lake effect snow in South Bend, IN and Cleveland. Thank god for Quattro.

Buying an Audi without Quattro is like dating a girl with no vagina.

Agree 110%. Did two trips from west Michigan thru update NY to CT and back last year, and one trip from west Michigan to upstate NY to CT to Greenville SC and back to MI. No problems. What impresses me is that the cruise control holds speed no matter how steep the uphill. Every other vehicle I ever owned always slowed down when going uphill in cruise. And when I wanted to pass.....vavoom.....75 to 100 in seconds even with a full load of passengers (4) and luggage.

yep, definitely great cars for the highway. i just got back from a trip from here to chicago and back, about 350 miles there and back, and it was great. i was still comfortable after being in the car for a few hours (and mind you i have the sport package, so firmer seats and suspension) and i was still feeling pretty good, especially with the heated seats on just a tad. the most fun part is that i have the 4.2, so it holds the cruise speed great, but the best part is that if i punch it going 75 on the highway, the acceleration is ridiculous for a car of it's size and weight. only complaint is that i only get 20mpg on the highway tops, but i guess i can't complain too much because that's much better than a lot of the other vehicles i own.

You should drive at 90 mph on the highway. My computer seems to think I used less fuel doing 90 than when I am doing 75...

That's the best defense I've heard. Conserve energy, drive 90.

Maybe it's just my trip computer, or the 6th gear works better over 3100 rpm than at 2900... I have no idea
