--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi All:

thanks for your previous help...my brake pads lights come on and all are fine as checked by dealer here in Calgary Canada on my US model 2005 A6 32. .

Any ideas? I was told by US dealership that the sensor in the pad could be replaced; here they say the pads have to be changed.

thanks.

I don't know of a way to change a pad sensor. My understanding is that the pad wires are embedded in the pad material and when they're sufficiently worn, they touch the rotor and create a short that trips the light. Just replace the pads - easy work and they're cheap enough.

Most likely if your pads are not worn your sensor wire has been cut or you have a bad connection at the plug, you cannot fix the sensor you must replace the pads, If the wire is cut or broken you can splice it check the routing of the wire could have got pinched. clean the connection plug you could have corrosion.
