Default Brake Question

Where can i find out which brake pads and rotors to get? My rear brakes are toast as well as my rotors, so i am looking to save a few bucks and buy them myself and have them put on. My mechanic is charging me 250 to install brake pads, rotors, and rr caliper...does that sound like a good price for install?

I bought my brakes from www.getcoolparts.com for my 2.8l. If you use coupon code audi06 and you save 5%.

Check out www.buybrakes.com. I really had good experience with them, and you can pretty much order anything. As for the parts, I always use simple Brembo blank rotors and Hawk HPS pads. Hawk HPS has very linear braking power, with soft initial bite. But when you need it, it works way better than the stock IMO. But let me warn you that it does generate quite a bit of dust. If you don't want the dust, then go with a ceramic pad of some sort, but I noticed that the braking power isn't that good. good luck.

I'm in the exact same process right now! I found rotors on bimmerspecialist.com for $27 and pads for $57. Good luck!

I’d call dealers with VIN
Would ask for a quote; ask for info on the specs you need to know!
There is a Built code for A6 -ON5, ON6 as they come in two base dimensions and two bearing/hub sizes.

What is the calipers rebuild for?

Rear brake job -disks, pads, labor for $150 seems to be ok. The rest: Rebuild calipers (parts, labor), bleeding the system for $100 ?!?

If he is getting a rebuilt rr caliper for $100 the price is about right.

Other parts - rotors $60 a set, pads $40 - leaves $50 for labor.
That sounds reasonable... Just remember the rebuilt caliper usually comes with pads that are barely. You'll still need pads for the left side sohave the good ones put on.
