Bricked (I think) my new Audi...now what?

Just purchase a used Audi a week ago: 2007 A6 3.2L engine with 25000 miles on it. Went to start it yesterday, nothing. Car still remotely locks/unlocks and exterior lights come on/off. With key in the ignition, the radio comes on and I can access some of the info or status screens (battery level, maintenance timing) but the car doesn't even try to turn over. In fact nothing on the dash even lights up.

Tried jumping it and playing around with the key in the lock (show a post somewhere saying this might reset something) but still nothing. Any ideas?

TIA,
Nate

If you got more than one key with the car, try the other key. The most likely (but by all means not the only possible) problem is that the car does not recognize the chip in the key. Most likely, you are about to meet your local Audi dealer.

Good luck,

Bob

If you just bought it, contact the person/dealership where you bought it from.

That's the conclusion I came to as well Googling the subject but figured it wouldn't hurt to throw a line out there.

Unfortunately since I got it used, the manual and a second key are coming but I don't have them yet. I got a call into the dealer but I'm not expecting to hear back from them until tomorrow.

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully this doesn't foreshadow future problems otherwise this might be my first and last Audi.

Ummmm, if you are expecting a trouble free association with your car, you bought the wrong brand. Audis are nice cars but have earned a reputation for unreliability for a reason.

On the other hand, I had a BMW that stranded my twice due to the anti-theft system!
