Default Burning Engine

Hello all,

Some of you may recall me mentioning that over the weekend I was having my Cam Adjuster seals and Valve Cover Gaskets replaced. Prior to having this done, I was smelling a nasty smell coming from my engine every time i came to a light or had the car stopped.

Well, come to find out, the burning smell/smoke was not oil burning from the leaking seals.

When I got home from having the work done, I washed out the engine with degreaser (Im talking hard core under the car with a scrub brush and a high pressured hose).

I drove around for a while and sure enough, the smell came back along with the smoke.

The smoke is white, and almost has the smell of burning rubber, but is coming from the left and right sides of the engine, and the smoke is coming out of the wheelwells.

ANY ideas guys?

Thanks!

on my 2000 2.7T I had the same problem and it turned out to be the secondary air pump hose melted through because the secondary air pump was inoperable. Not sure if this is the case on yours or not
