Buy this A6 2.7T or No?
Hey Guys,
Noobie here - read the sticky on the 2.7T and am looking at a 2000 A6 one with low KMs - only 125,000kms! Thats 78,000 miles for the americans. It is in amazing visual condition, asking $8,000. Here's the maintenance record:
· The timing belt was replaced at 78,700 km, in May 2008. The water pump and thermostat were replaced at the same time.
· Had some work done on the front suspension in May 2011 a right front new lower ball joint/control arm.
· The following sensors were replaced in the last couple of years:
o 2 back up sensors 2009/2010
o Engine coolant temperature sensor June 2010
o Bank 1 and 2 EGT sensors Nov 2012
o Oxygen sensor Oct 2012
o Mass air flow sensor Feb 2012
· Other recent replacements (within last 2 years):
o Bank 1 ignition module
o New starter
o New headlights
o New headlight switch
o New fuel pressure regulator valve
o New alternator
o Replaced serpentine belt and tensioner
o Replaced cup holders (2 - front)
o Front brakes Aug 2011
o Rear brakes May 2011
So - is this a fair price? I want an audi for the looks, the leg room (I am 6'4" and this is one of the very few I seem to fit in), and the AWD. The sport factor helps to as I love to drive.
I am not a huge fan of spending a ton of money on one - I live in Vancouver an there are a lot of audi techs here but they aint cheap.
Lastly, I would use it mostly for Hwy driving, I take the bus to work, it is faster than driving (those in van it's because I need to get over lions gate bridge). So only used for road trips.

There is also this Audi 2.7T same generation, same KMs, a bit newer, s-line trim, and $4k more:
2004 AUDI A6 2.7 Twin Turbo S-line
Lastly a dealer has a nice 2009 3.0T A6, but it is american, doesn't seem to have any records. Low-ish miles. But they want $33,000 which seems high for the risk on it.

Thanks,
I've since found a few more - including some from the next generation (2005+) that I am considering - there are a number of 3.2L v6 models out there, for example:
2006 Audi A6 3.2 Drive this Audi A6 for 188.79 Biweekly - Greater Vancouver Area Cars For Sale - Kijiji Greater Vancouver Area Canada.
They are all $12-19k though. They look better and not sure if they are "worth" it.
