Hi guys I have been looking found for a car for what seems like forever but I can not find one in the spec that I am looking for with reasonable miles, close enough. Yesterday I saw a car that was close enough, with the great miles only when I got there it had none of the things I wanted on it.

So here is the list of things i would like to fit anyone know how much and where I could find instructions and where to get parts?

Must fit:
Memory seats
Advanced trip computer on the dash (gives MPG read out etc)
Radio controls on the Stering wheel

Would like to fit:
Reverse parking sensor
Auto dimming rear view mirror

I'm no expert, but memory seats I suspect will be the hardest.It is also tied to the mirrors Ibelieve.

The steering wheel controls I have no idea about, but the other things you can even get after-market products that will do the job.

James, you want to add these upgrades/options to your 2001 A6 2.6 ?
Like the guy above said, I'm no expert, but adding memory seats or radio controls on steering wheel sounds very expensive and time consuming, assuming it can be done.
Search the forum, others have tried what you want to do, keep in mind your car has to have the correct wiring harness/connectors or these won't work. The parts can be got from a wrecking yard, or new from dealer $$$ . ( I would wait until I found the car with all these options then sell old/ buy new with options ).

 

You can install an autodimming mirror and back up parking sensors without a problem.
A lot of aftermarket companies make back up parking sensor kits as well. The mirror is about $400, and the parking sensor kits are around $300 for a couple of sensors and a module.

As for the steering wheel controls, memory seats, and trip odemeter will cost several thousand dollars, on top of no one will install it for you.
You would need:
Memory seat control module= $1,000
Wiring harness and switch = $400
Instrument cluster = $800
New steering wheel and wiring harness = $2,000
These are estimates but as you can see its not even close to worth it, plus there isn't any info to install these items.

 

No point in buying a car because its there... think of it as an investment ... wait for the right one

 

oh, I just got an Audi Auto-Dimm compass mirror from eBay, used for 150 USD including postage.

 

Mine has those things on my 2001.... gotta 106000 miles on her now...They are out there!

 

Hi guys thanks for the tips, I bought a 2.7t quatro with all the things I wanted on it. Very happy with my new car and love driving it. Little woried about could go wrong with it being a complex car, also love the fact that it will go past most things, however it does not like going past gas stations
