Car Jack
I lent my jack to my brother and I need to change my oil today.
The jack that comes with the A6....what in the world? Should I even bother with this thing or should I wait until I get out to my brothers house and get a real jack. I couldnt even figure out how to lift the car if I wanted to. Anyone have any info on this thing? |
Prob best to wait for a decent jack. I wouldnt get under the car unless it was supported by jacks stands AND a decent jack.
The jack that comes with the car, I believe, looks like this... http://ap-specialties.com/files/0903...1/IMG_5588.JPG The flat piece with the spring connected to it goes on the ground, the other end has a notch that should fit around the metal brace under the doors. You turn the crank which operates a screw and lifts the car. |
Actually, the jack that comes with the car works great. Except... I am going to be an old fart and tell you that you should NEVER be under a car with a jack only. You need jack stands.

Wow. What a great forum. Pics and everything....
I couldnt figure out how to turn the crank. Oh well. |
Im not gonna mess with it. Just gonna wait till saturday.
The other problem ive encountered is that the washer fluid is constantly low. I can fill it and probably 1-2 weeks later, it alerts me and its empty. I dont notice any leaks on the driveway so I dont know? Could this fluid be leaking anywhere internally? |
Internally? I never heard of an internal washer fluid leak. Do you use the fluid often? Maybe it only leaks when it is pressurized. Maybe it is leaking onto the skid plate and you dont notice it.
