Default Cd error 1

Last night all of the cd's in in changer would not play. The display said cd error 1. I looked it up and it said the cd was dirty or loaded incorrectly. I reloaded the cds and one would play but it took several tries. I have not had trouble before, all of these cds all 6 would play have had them in the changer for a while. Any Ideas?

One option is to run a Lens Cleaner CD (just as for any other CD/DVD reader) and see if that alleviates the problem.

Is it cold there? My cd changer doesn't work here, but then again not much works when it's constantly below 0 degrees F. Although I think I get Error 3 when it doesn't work...

I get that every now and again. I usually check the connection in the trunk and/or take out the cd jacket.
Also I find it does it more often when it is cold out

it has been warmer here lately. I will try cleaning with a lens cleaner. I have one that has little brushes will that work ok?

I have used the disc cleaner twice and it plays the demo track from the cd cleaner. So I know it can read cds but it will not play any other cds. any ideas?

it will play cds only about a 1/5 of the time. Note sure if it is the changer or the head unit? any suggestions to finding which one is bad?

My CD player does the same thing with some burned CD's, usually normal CD's will work just fine but then burned CD's will work one day then not the next, then work again... so if you are using burned CD's you might be running into the same problem I have. I have to assume it is the reader itself that is having the problem, as it will click around and 'rev' up the CD a few times before the ERR1 message kicks on. I have been asking around on this and if I come up with any answers I will let you know asap.

I had this exact problem with burned CDs with my Bose system in my 2004 A6...fix was to burn the disk using my girlfriend's burner. Since then I have never had a problem. My burner is newer than the gf's but for some reason the bose system is picky on what it will play.
