P1113 DTC popped, B1S1 02 sensor. Replaced w/ Bosch sensor, cleared code w/ computer, but CEL still lit. Just bought an 01 A6. Working on all the recommendations listed here under this model.
Checked oil and gas caps, CED still lit, but I've only driven it for about 4 miles after this repair.
Will the CEL clear after a set # of miles, or do I likely have another issue?
Thanks

Is the code still for a P1113?
If so, you could have a cut wire in the harness where the o2 sensor plugs in.
When you clear the code with a scan tool, does the light come on immeadiatly or do you have to drive it?

You cleared the code and the CEL was on? Did it go off and come back on after awhile? If you clear the code, the CEL should be off for awhile. Then it should come back if there is something wrong. Why don't you try it again.
New B1S1 O2 sensor is working fine after r&r, code P1113 is clear on computer. Could have another problem causing the CEL, but it's not popping a code. Disconnected battery for 30 minutes to reset computer, but CEL still lit. Performance is better, no obvious power problems.
Other than the gas or oil cap loose, what would likely cause a CEL w/out a code popping?
Is there another method to clear the CEL?
Thanks for the assist

Realized I didn't answer 2 q's:
CEL never went out after r&r of B1S1 O2 sensor. Code is clear, but CEL still on. CEL was intermittent prior to reading code P113. Now CEL on constant.
Thanks

Might be a dumb question, but did you check the codes in all blocks, not just the engine block? You ARE using a VAG-COM, aren't you? OBD-II reader might be missing something.

Ok, well when you replace an O2 sensor the code isn't just going to automatically go away. You will have a to drive it a certain distance before the computer realizes the new o2 sensor is working or you will have to erase the code with a scan tool.
If the CEL is on, then there will be a code stored in the computer. If it is showing no codes, try scanning the transmission too. That can also cause a CEL to be lit.

Replaced both pre-cat O2 sensors, re-read codes w/ ODB2, O2 sensor code P1113 is gone. Now I've got:
P1296 (cooling sys malfunction)
P0421 (cat efficiency below threshold)
P0741 (torque conv cluth circuit performance or stuck on)
Working on checking systems for obvious problems, bad connections, etc.
Not really sweating P1296, likely a bad wire/connection since I have no temp issues. Not really sweating P0421 cat code either, probably bad post-cat O2 sensor, easy fix unless the cat is bad.
P0741 on torque conv is the one I'm most concerned w/ since it also may be a blocked oil passage/line. Any recommendations/advice on any of these problems is appreciated.
I'm not tooled up for indepth troubleshooting on this car. Looking for a motorhead w/ a VAG-COM near Whidbey Island, WA (N of Seattle), willing to assist w/ a scan.

The cat is most likely bad on bank one
It is possible that sensor 2 is giving a bad reading. Did you replace that sensor also?
Torque converters are known to go bad on these cars. Every-time I hear that code come up it is followed by replacing the TC.

One guy managed to get his torque convertor code to go away by cleaning the MAF so you should try that BUT it is a shot in the dark and should be treated as such. The TCs on 00s and 01s had a bad seal.
