Default Clicking purge valve...(98 quat)

Okay I have read some forums and so far to my understanding no one really knows exactly what a vacuum contol purge vavle (VCPV) does but one had some good info about the car not starting on first crank that could be a possible purge failure... I will have to buy one anyway this vavle is located on top of my air filter cover and comes off the same wire harness as the mass air flow sensor (MAF) sensor...fyi buying it and putting it on urself from what I've read will save you a lot of money look online I've found one a boch new for 40 on ebay but still looking. I have just replaced the MAF hoping this would stop my failure to start on first crank and stop the clicking sound coming from the VCPV but the clicking persists I haven't tried the start up yet I'm waiting to let the vehicle get cold it seems to not start more when the engines cold. Replacing the MAF wasn't a total loss though I diagnosed it buy knocking on it and unplugging and replugin it to connection both need in a car dying will post when i buy a new VCPV to inform if the clicking went away look up my update on my starting problem for the MAF and if starts up on first crank...hope this can help!!!

Search goes on read some info seems like the clicking is normal so I will have to try to diagnose it again it would be so much easier if my obdll ran engine codes... :/
