Default Cloudy Headlight Lense

My 2001 A6 2.8 had very clear headlight lenses until about a year ago. Now they're very cloudy and none of the polishes I've tried from Walmart, Autozone, etc. seem to work. Does anyone have a suggestion or best to replace?
Thanks,
Matt

do you know if it is the inside or outside? if inside use 600 1000 and 2000 wet dry sandpaper from gritty to fine (600-2000) until the lens has a uniform look and then use pollish. I think i used PlastX maquires...someone has a more detailed how to here I know i just dont know who or where it is....try searching for it this is a common problem

It appears to be on the outside. I'll do another search. If anyone else has ideas, please share! Thanks, Matt

i had the same prob on the same car,I buy and sell fish tanks so what i did is went to my local pet shop and picked up the best acrylic posish they sold( it was a 2 step polish) it took a little elbow grease and about 45mins of time. But it came out like new. i repolish it every 2 mnths just to keep em clean. save the sand paper for a last result i have seen way to many cars that they could not buff the scratches out.the kit only cost about 20-25bucks....
good luck and pm me if you need a walk through, i will glad to help

I think the headlight cleaning issue is actually mentioned in the Hints and Tips or DIY section. A good article with lots of photos.

Living currently in a sandy country, and prevention being better than cure. Once cleaned, I was advised by people who live here to use wasing up liquid to make a thin film on the lenses before long trips. Obviously, this works better in the day as night vision might be affected.
