Default coil pack question?

Its a 99 a6 2.8 quattro with a cylinder 2 misfire. It appears to be getting spark, as switched plugs and wires and a difference was not noticed! I read of people switching the coil packs to see if the misfire follows, my problem is im unsure of how to switch the coil pack since there are 2 wires running into what i believe to be the ignition amplifier(gel like substance)?. Mainly looking for assistance in what is meant by switching coil packs, although any other help or ideas are much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I did search/read all the posts for about two days without a clear concise answer, or even any answer for that matter
?
the car now has a multiple cylinder misfire along with a misfire on cyl.#3 &2... any suggestions?
If more info is needed just ask.

This question can vary depending on what engine you have. The 2.8L engine only has 3 coils and the 2.7T has 6 coils. So depending on what engine you have will affect our advice.

You can try swapping one of the coils over one position and keep the spark plug wires on the same cylinders. If the misfire doesn't move then you may have a vacuum leak or major carbon build up on the intake valves.

im unsure of what you mean by sawping the coils over... Each of the 3 coils has 2 wires that go into a gel cube, which doesnt permit enough movement to change the position of any of the coils. Am I unclear of what is meant by moving the coils over?

What don't you understand, all three coils are sitting right next to each other. Swap the electrical connectors to the other coil.
Ok, does the same coil control cylinder 2 and 3? If its misfires are on different coils then its a clear indicator that the misfire isn't ignition or fuel related. Its gonna be mechanical or carbon build up on intake valves, sticking lifters etc. This means its seafoam time. Could also be a MAF but thats expensive so lets save that for last.
