I have the same concern myself:
I need some advice:
I currently use a key fob with a fixed key for my A4. Its part number is 8L0 837 231. I've seen the key fobs of the newer B5s (99-01, part #4D0 837 231D) and I think they look great. They have the same two-button remote as mine except they have a switchblade like this:

Now, if I buy a new key fob and blank key like that, do you think it could be programmed to work with the alarm transceiver and immobilizer of my car? Do you know any shops that know how to cut a key down the center, like this?:

Thanks in advance.
I wonder if the part number with the 2 button switchblade key is compatible?
