LOL I never had an unexpected problem with my 1997 Avant even though it has gone 240,000 miles. Every problem I've had has been expected.

In fact when I get in the car and don't have a problem, I'm suprised!

1. Left headlight adjustment motor
2. Engine hood gas strut
3. Oil pan leak
4. Steering rack leak
5. Transmission final drive seal leak
6. Radiator
7. Electrical cooling fan
8. Alternator
9. Stuck closed thermostat
10. MAF
11. Secondary Air Injector solenoid (not fixed yet)
12. Front brake line split
13. Left CV joint
14. Left CV boot
15. Right CV boot
16. Window washer pump
17. Window washer nozzles
18. Front windscreen crack from heat (Hard to believe but it’s true)
19. Front right wheel liner
20. Front left wheel liner
21. Battery (not sure if this would come under maintenance or repairs)
22. Dead rows of pixel in display
23. Front cup holder
24. Left sun visor lamp connection (it’s not the bulb)
25. Rear view mirror adjustment broke. Needed to replace it.
26. Window master switch
27. Front right door actuator with switch
28. Front left door actuator with switch
29. Rear left window motor
30. Rear right window motor (Replaced with a second hand one that failed again)
31. Fuel pump
32. Wheels and rims (Cracked and bent beyond repair)
33. Rear boot gas struts x 2
34. Various bulbs (not sure if these would come under maintenance or repairs)
35. Front suspension rubber bushes (or that's what I think they are called anyway)

Purchased with 100k miles and now has only 140k miles almost 3 years later.

Does this now officially count as a lemon? I guess I did buy it at a bad time. Most of these would probably be expected after 100k in a German car, but my Opel didn't have nearly as many issues with the same mileage...

01 A6 2.7tQ - purchased 13 months ago at 108,xxx... currently at 114,xxx...

1. ABS Control Module
2. Rear window lock broke (rear windows controls disabled).
3. Auxiliary water pump replaced... $800.
4. 4 alignments... so far... for terrible pulling.
5. Gauge console and radio screens distort terribly in any form of warm temperature.
6. Drivers mirror leaking... yes... leaking...
7. Slow oil leak from front end... presume steering.
8. Steering turns very hard when car is even remotely cold.
9. Passenger side door will not close/latch when below 20°F... thank god for bungee cords.
10. 4 new tires... since only 2 of them were worn, but you "can't" only put on 2... apparently... $800
11. "Viscous" fan going bad or toast... currently whines like a table saw when the heater is on.
12. Rear seat heats controls are backwards... right controls left... etc.
13. Driving light bulbs go out about every 500 miles... done replacing those at $10 EACH.
14. Thought one of the rear fog lights was burned out... but come to find out they only put a bulb in one side... apparently they thought it necessary to put in 2 lens... one on each side... but not the harness and bulb for both.
15. Passenger window squeals like a fork on a chalkboard when going up.
16. Steering wheel radio controls only decrease volume... 'up' button doesn't work.
17. Drivers side door bump trim falling off... just coming off... never hooked it on anything.
18... probably something else that I'll find one the way home.

Car is great in the snow (reason I bought it... for a winter driver) and fun to drive otherwise (TT), but a PAIN THE A$$ (pun intended) to maintain! I haven't even gotten to REGULAR maintenance yet!

Hmm, non maintenance. . .

You'll see in signature, I'm twice as crazy, as I've got TWO C5's with the SAME motor! Maybe I'll become an expert. . . and broke.

Focusing just on the sedan, bought the car July 2008 with 82k, now has 106,600.

1. Bad oil pressure sensor, still need it.
2. Need new window master switch.
3. Dash cup holder plate fell off.
4. 747 racket from aux cooling fan (still need that, but expensive if it's not hurting performance).
5. Right front tie rod end (brick streets) done 500 miles ago
6. Right front ball joint (brick streets) done 500 miles ago
7. Still need control arm on that corner???
8. Due to those issues brake rotor warped badly
9. Display pixels going out - soooo not worth the time and $ when other things need done
10. What the hell is that rattle in the rear???
11. Loose interior panel (loose at the c pillar, rattles like crazy, not related to other rear rattle)
12. Blown right rear door speaker (Bose)
13. Headlight washers will not fully retract
14. 1st gear slipped since I bought it, we'll see what happens

These aren't bad, considering the miles, and the reason for the front suspension issues. Would only trade this car for a 4.2 or an RS6. LOVE IT!

Default 2000 Audi A6 2.7T Quattro

Bought it when it had 95k and now 97k.
So far -
1. 2 O2 sensors.
2. Now, the exhaust gas temp sensor - Not fixed yet.
Called the dealer and the part is $650.00
Still thinking whether to replace or get rid of the car.

Don't be ridiculous. Here is a source for the EGT: http://www.jhmotorsports.com/shop/ca...roducts_id=102

purems also has them. Do you need both or just one side?

And dealer should be last resort for parts. Besides, it's not hurting performance, I'd leave it alone for a while. I've needed to replace mine on the Allroad for 10k miles - I'm not worrying about it.

Wink Thanks Taurean Bull

This is the info, I was looking for.

I got the following codes -
1. 17863 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sender 1 (G235) - Impluasible Signal -
P1455 - Intermittent.
2. 17831 - Secondary Air Injection System - Bank 1 - Insufficient Flow -
P1423 - Intermittent.
3. 17819 - Secondary Air Injection System - Bank 1 - Insufficient Flow -
P1411 - Intermittent.

Sorry, I am not trying to be ridiculous but I was not able to find a place to buy the parts other than the dealer.

Now, I think I know the best place to them from JHM.

Thanks Again.
Jokash.

Ill jump in, just for fun....
I've had my 2001 Audi A6 for (ummm) 49 hours.
The Heater core is plugged and needs a flush, (no heat at idle) the check engine light came on 24 hours after delivery.
BUT!!!!!!! The dealer has me headed to Howard Coopers in Ann Arbor for a free fixup.

In my opinion the dealer has no obligation BUT out of honestly and integrity they are stepping up and fixing my issues. At least these first few.
I did buy a 7 month extended warranty for any internal engine or trans parts.

heat in the audi is notoriously anemic at idle, especially if you are used to the way ricers crank out the warm. check to see how it blows at 2000 rpms or so when its warmed up. if you can get them to replace the heater core that would be great because its a rough job, but even then you might not notice that much difference

Its lukewarm at 70 mph driving home.
The temp gauge is running fine.

UPDATE

Dealer flushed the coolant system, now I have great heat, the check engine light was a catalyst sensor, they recalibrated it. $650.00 OUCH! The dealer I bought the car from split the bill, so although it hurt, it could have been worse.
