Default ? control arms

when i apply the brakes on my 01 a6 2.7 at slow speeds. i get this clunking sound or more like a thump from the left front wheel.
does this sound like control arm wear ? it clunks when i hit drive ways and speed bumps. i just bought this car and its in good shape and this is the only thing i seem to notice. my a4 had bad control arms so i kinda know what im in for. just curious i wana fix this problem before it gets worse thanks.

also i didnt get a owners manual with this car. what is the oil capacity for the 2.7t ?

Sounds like control arms or sway bar links. 6.8 quarts.

As for the Owners Manual, (if you haven't done so) check directly under the steering wheel. Thats where I found mine. The dealership I bought mine from thought they didnt have em. But I read a post on this site and looked and there it was. Almost bought a new one for fifty bucks. Hope you find yours there also.
