Coolant Tank Question
 

Hello,

I have a 2001 a6 with a 2.7t engine. I was replacing my valve cover gaskets last night and noticed something extremely strange on the reservoir for the engine coolant. There are two hoses in the front of the tank, and then one on the bottom in the rear of it (behind the electrical sensor). What does that back one go to? I bought this car just recently and the guy capped that rear coolant hose, then cut the tube about a foot down the line so you cant notice unless you pull the tank out.

If anyone can tell me where that line goes to, id appreciate it!

I don't know. I checked my tank and it is the same way. I have a cut hose coming off the bottom.

there is a vent hose that comes off the back that is supposed to drain off below the car.

^^ That is the overflow drain.
