Crankcase Breather Replacement - problem

Hey, I was replacing the crankcase breather because my old one had broke. I just got this car recently and there's a LOT of overdue maintenance. I need to figure out how to finish this fix. Apparently the part I got was either missing a part, or the car is missing something.

Please watch the video and let me know what you think.

I did a little research on other threads and saw one similar to this but it didn't have a finished answer.

I figured out what I ordered, did not have an extra down tube. So, my question is - what tube goes back there? I know I'll need to order it.

It connects to the back of the intake manifold, and the only way I could get to it was to remove the air intake tube that connects to the throttle body and then remove the throttle body itself. The throttle body bolts are hard to get to, but if you have a set of Allen wrenches, you can get them off. This also means that you'll need to move the plate with all the vacuum lines above the throttle body out of the way too. Make sure you take a few pictures along the way so you put everything back in the right spot.

I found that about a three inch long section of the tube that connects to the intake down there was plugged solid with brown gunk and the plastic was so brittle that it just crumbled when I tried to remove it. I ended up replacing it with a piece of 5/8" heater hose to bring it up to the connection point you show in the video. Mine runs a lot better now, and with any luck it might stop blowing oil out of all the new seals on the top end.

Thanks for the info.

How does it connect back there in the manifold? Is there something special? Or just a hose clamp?

It has the same type of connector as the ones on the cam covers. I was able to reuse the connector with the heater hose and a hose clamp.

Well, I had a stripped screw on the throttle body. Then I figured out I could probably change it out without removing the TB. That was very rough.

I used 3/4" hose which barely fit. now it's too stiff and slightly too long for the OEM breather tubes. I think I'll have to make my own for the other sections too =(

So, making one was going to be too much hassle so I figured out how to make it work. I put the 3/4" tube on the back under the TB and then put an elbow on it so I could add another 3/4" tube to go up to the OEM system.

Still not the easiest, but I got er done.
