Same here. My 98 started years ago. At first people asked how I got it that way. Now I don't pay attention to it. Maybe next year it might take on another shape. If it starts to impair my vision I'll just get my razor knife and trim. Maybe a few good looking button screws.

Mine is exactly carbon copy, the same... my dash is brown 2000 a6 4.2l

definately Florida sun! can happen in Texas too! high temp hiting the dash all day makes vinyl soft. then when the car cools quickly at night or when you open all the windows suddenly it shrinks like a cotton sweater in a dryer.

both ends curled up like that. I don't have the ***** to remove the dash and fix the instrument panel while im there.

My best suggestion is to glue it down with high temp silicone. pinch it with something (both ends using the windshielod as backing. The next morning that **** will be glued down tight. I promise! Then buy your favorite color dash carpet custome made and cover it. Looks real Latino and cool in my opinion. In florida my windows are tinted including the windsheild down half way. with 20% No one ever asked me about my dash. Car is so nice, it takes attention away from it. When bitches sit inside they just stare at the red lighted dash or at me....so dont sweat it. If it bothers a passenger, stop the car and kick them the hell out!

I just wanted to also mention that I fixed my motor mounts including the front one and the transmission ones with high temp rtv silicone. Real thick.
Home made a year ago and today they are still solid. I am not buying 300 motor mounts. so this proves that silicone will hold those curls down if you can squeeze some behind the vinyl somehow and pinch in down for several hours or over night. When you remove the object that's pinching it....it will stay down as long as silicone dries for many hours. if it looks good, leave it....if it looks ugly. cover it, use your creative imagination. Good luck, this looks like a common problem and I think the dealer should replace it for free
