Dial Cluster problems & starting problems Audi A6 diesel

Hi everyone,

I have a 2001 150bhp Audi A6 2.5tdi manual. when the weather turned colder i noticed that the dash/dial cluster wasn't working properly. I would start the car & the rev counter etc wouldn't be working & the digital clock & how many miles the car has covered etc. once the car was warmed up it would suddenly spark into life, sometimes i would leave it to run for 5 or 10 minutes & then switch it off & take out the fuse for the dial cluster & then put it back, turn on ignition & it would work.

I also had the immoblisor light flashing on the dash for about 3 weeks but the car would still start, the day the car decided to not start was the day i noticed the immobliser light stopped flashing.

sometimes i would attempt to start the car & it would fire up for about a second & then cut out, if i took out the fuse & replaced it ( dial cluster fuse ) it would fire up & run fine.

Just recently it done the usual so i took the fuse out & put it back in then tried to start the car but nothing. it will run on easy start into the air intake. Pipe on top of the fuel filter has been removed & fuel is pooring out while turning it over so the fuel is getting there fine.

Do you think it's an issue with the dial cluster because the immobilisor is built into it or could it be the fuel pump. I'm thinking about taking out the dial cluster & sending it to BBA Reman to see what they come up with.

Has anyone else had an issue like this with thier A6

thanks in advance
