Difference between 1998-99 and 2000?
I into buying a 2000 A6 Avant 2.8. I wonder what there is different between a 98, 99 and 2000, except for the price. The one i'm lookinh at has 84,000 miles on it and is in real good condition. Per the owner, no timing belt has been done. he's asking $9,900. Is that a fair price to ask for? also, how much does a timing belt change run for and when are you supposed to change it? what else should i be looking at except for front suspension???

Is somebody trying to sell my car out from under me? That sounds just like mine. ( Ok, I only have 82K )
Man, I thought my car was worth a bit more than that.........

I also Have a 2000 Avant 2.8 and recently bought it for 12000 W/84000 on it. Man do I feel used. [&o] Sounds Like a great price to me. I got mine from a used dealer though.(Just trying to make myself feel better.) Dont know if you checked or not but also check the CV boots . I had a torn one. Maybe you can get the price knocked down even more. I love my car and you will probably like one too. About the timing belt, If you buy the car get it changed,I am not sure but it should say in the manual when to have it done. Shouldn't cost more than 500. That is if you take somewhere else than a dealer.
